Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Illustration & Drawing

You can create many things with lines, from simple line drawings to using lines for shades and dimensions. I focused my work on architecture in New York City this semester. In doing research, I chose the Guggenheim Museum as a focal point. The Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is known for its organic shapes. I started off by going to the museum and taking pictures of the structure and areas I would want to draw; after I simplified the picture by outlining shapes, I later filled it in with lines to show shade. In doing this, I created a set of three. I then moved on to working digitally and went in a different direction; instead of lines as the shade, I used different colors.
